Orthodontics
The art of the smile
Orthodontics focuses on the correct alignment of the teeth and jaws for a healthy bite, a balanced face, and a smile you'll love.
Orthodontic treatment brings the teeth and jaws into three-dimensional harmony. The results can be dramatic: beautiful smiles, improved dental health, and an enhanced quality of life for people of ALL ages.
Dr. Kuperstein follows the American Association of Orthodontics' recommendation that children should receive their first orthodontic screening around the age of seven, when the upper permanent front teeth first erupt. This allows the orthodontist to identify and monitor any developing problems. In most cases, treatment will not begin until much later, but an early evaluation allows for timely intervention where it is needed, and brings peace of mind to the parent and child.
Treatment
The most profound treatment results come from the correction of imbalances in the growth of the teeth and the surrounding face. This is one reason it's so beneficial to catch problems early, while the face is still growing. An orthodontist can help guide the growth of a child's teeth in real time, avoiding the need for significant correction later.
But it's never too late to enjoy the benefits of a beautiful smile. Orthodontic treatment can begin at any age. Many adults have never had orthodontic treatment, and could benefit greatly from a healthier smile. Some may have had braces earlier in life, but teeth have shifted out of their corrected position. Other adults may have missing teeth, which can cause abnormal movement of the remaining teeth.
Orthodontics does not always involve braces. Many patients can achieve a beautiful, healthy smile with esthetic alternatives to braces, such as Invisalign. Dr. Kuperstein is certified in Invisalign and Incognito (braces behind the teeth), and has received advanced training in these treatment methods.
Dr. Kuperstein enjoys treating patients of ALL ages: children, adolescents, and adults. She is happy to provide a free comprehensive examination to all patients who are interested in orthodontic treatment.
